I initially subscribed in May 2003 when the company, Redback Internet was run by Shay Leary. Everything ran smoothly, website just a holding page, and service only really used for our company email.

At some point the company changed hands, without any notification, and then just as other reviewers have found, the service suddenly died in early June 2004.

No reminders sent about renewal – just terminated – although the support desk claims that everyone is sent a renewal reminder. Lies, as other rewiewers have testified.

Eventually advised that domain was in ‘redemption’ and fee of ?96.35p to get it back again. We paid, via PayPal, and it then took some two weeks to get the service up and running. This involved communicating directly with the Total Registration, the registrar used by the service provider, which since the takeover is now called eukhost.com. Even though we had paid eukhost.com via PayPal, they were unable to pay Total Registrations, so TR would not restart the service. TR were unable to contact eukhost because eukhost’s email wasn’t working. Anyway eventually TR recieved the payment and we got working again.

But of course as others have found there were problems with access to the control panel and even when you can access the control panel it doesn’t always work. For exampl, because of the problem outlined below I tried to set up email forwarding to different email addresses – but this didn’t work.

We have now opened a second office with ADSL supplied by Demon with fixed IP address. For some reason eukhost.com are blocking the range of IP addresses including ours, and every day, that is every day when you can actually get anyone on their “instant support” MSN chatline, they eventually unblock the IP after initailly blaming our ISP, and then “guarantee” that it won’t get blocked again. Next day it is always blocked. I was away on holiday for the second week of August, and for the whole week the only way my colleagues back in the office could get their emails was from their home computers using the webmail service.

I have also tried to get a vat invoice from them for the redemption payment. On a number of occassions they have sent me what they claim is an invoice, with no information about the company and a “Mickey Mouse” address. When I asked again yesterday for an invoice the response from the sales line was “what is a vat invoice”!!

I will be transferring the hosting package to a reputable organisation as soon as I possibly can.

My advice to anyone looking for a hosting package is to steer well clear of this cowboy company.


I want to share my experiences of EUKhost/ Redbank to this page. This company is disgraceful.

I signed up with Redbank in May 2003 to host my site, and I was delighted with the service which I received from the then owner. He was helpful, polite and the service was everything I wanted, not to mention remarkable value.

About March of this year, I noticed that I had no access to the control panel for my site anymore, and I contacted the host to try to fix this. First, I was amazed that they provide no telephone support service, but it soon became apparent why! This issue was eventually resolved, but it took a lot of emailing, responding and explaining of the situation.

At the end of May, I noticed that my site had completely gone. I realised that this was partially my fault, in that the host was not able to send me the annual renewal notices as the email address that I had used to sign up to the service was now redundant. HOWEVER, I still decided to try to resolve this issue, and to get my site back.

Continued attempts were made by me to resolve this issue, including emails to the support staff and conversations in the chat service. Many of these emails were ignored, while others were replied to with ‘textbook’ answers that did nothing to help. After initially being advised that I could easily renew the name (after it had lapsed), this claim was subsequently changed to report that my domain was in redemption and that I would have to pay circa ?90 to release it, which I was not prepared to do having been misinformed in the first place. Following one email from the support staff, which seemed clear enough, I repurchased the hosting service for my domain, which I then discovered I was wrongly advised to do in that email. I pressed them for a refund, which I have now received, but this is still not satisfactory.

The staff in the support service were often rude, very unhelpful and failed to respond to my queries on many occasions. In essence, they didnt actually know what they were doing, and used rudeness to cover up for this fact. I eventually gave up and contacted the old owner of the hosting service, who helped me retrieve all my files from their servers. Had I realised that he no longer owns the service when this was all going on, I would have contacted him sooner. Suddenly it all made sense!

Now that I have got my files and they are safe, I dont really care what EUKhost do, but I am going to investigate to see if there are formal channels through which companies like these can be reported. To the best of my knowledge there are not, but there are other methods which I am considering.

I have not had as bad an experience as many on this thread, I think, but this company is a ABSOLUTE JOKE! Not only does it not know what it is doing, but it also DOESNT CARE, which is worse! I would strongly advise against going with EUKhost to anyone who asked me about them. They may be cheap, but they are utterly useless!

I set up an account with these guys in 2003, when Shay Leary was running the show. I was really impressed with the service and level of support, and ran around recommending them to everyone…

Then I discovered that I couldn’t access my email. I’ll take responsibility for that one, as I forgot to renew the domain (although I was expecting a courtesy email to remind me!). After a few attempts, I got hold of the ‘support team’ at what had become eUKhost.com, who informed me that if I paid up now, they’d sort it all out for me. I paid, nothing happened.

It was then impossible to get hold of support- no reply to email, and the telephone number wasn’t recognised. I put it down to experience, and registered a different domain with another company.

This year, they’ve taken money out of my account again!!! I’ve called them (phone number connected this time), and guess what? They have no record of my account. I’m guessing that I don’t have one. I doubt I’ll get my money back, either…

I’d advise everyone to stay well away!

I’ve had very good service from eukhost from last 8 months. Things have completely changed now after I had 24 hours downtime in the month of Jan. New Datacenter of eukhost.com has been very reliable and the uptime stats have also been good.

I dont consider that this company is run by any cowboy as they have 24×7 Toll Free phone support, live chat support and good response time for emails. I’ve had good help from eukhost for certain designing related issues which they did for very low price.

I need to share my experience with my hosting company which is eukhost.com which is one of the well knowned company this days as the service provides you one of the best customer service than any other company.The support people help you and reply for your tickets with in 1-2 hour you submit to your ticket,as i got the reply just after an hour on the same day, so i am very impressed from the support team.one of the teck support member who helped me was ,and he helped me a so supportively so that i don’t wanted to go any where else. i need to share these fact that they are awesome !!! and i am taking some more hosting services to add some more Website on their servers.their dedicated hosting service is i like the most.

Its being around 9 – 10 months of duration, in which my site are hosted on eukhost.com,I am very happy to say this,
They are cool,help you for your problem, reply to query quickly and made my job easy and i m happy ..Cheers to eukhost.com team.
The most important part of it missed up was actually the support team was more qualified than normal support team of hosting companies. eukhost has a well trained customer support team ready to assist people at any time they are in need.

It would like to share my cool experience with my hosting company which is eukhost.com,that’s why i am taking out from my busy schedule and witting a review for my hosting company so that people should know about my experience too.I got to know about them through a website banner .My action plan after viewing there website and after talking to there sales representative for a hour or so was like i will definatly go for eukhost.com.He cleared my misconception towards hosting a website,i hope they are very techy and know very well what they are going to give to there clients.After a month i got some problem on my website regards my database and they sorted out very easily ,i am very happy on this part.so pretty cool that they reply on a very quick to the customers query.
Value for Money – Amongst the cheapest around
Performance – As far as I can tell 100% uptime, quick loading & no site problems
Customer Support – Exceptional
Features – I don’t use any really technical features but I’ve always had everything I’ve needed.
