They offer free hosting with banners, bannerless hosting for $15/year or 2gig xfer. No PHP, MySQL, etc., they have a sister company that provides that.

I’ve been using them for 3 or 4 years now and have been very happy. They have extremely fast response to email tech support, I’ve never used phone support and don’t know if they have it.

The only problem that I’ve had is when they moved me to a different server, it took almost 2 weeks for the DNS change to fully replicate, but I think that was probably the fault of ISP’s not updating their private DNS servers in a timely manner. I had no problems when they moved me except the specific time frame when they told me I’d be down.

HIGHLY recommended.

Set up was extremely quick and easy. Had a question the next day and used their trouble ticket system…received reply in less than 15 minutes!! Fantastic customer service!

Directnic is using spammers and criminals to make easy profits. Indeed they register large amounts of accounts for spammers. Their Terms Of Service forbid spam, but these policies aren’t being enforced. They refuse to explain why. In the mean time they constantly open new accounts for spammers. The latest in dat I am being victim of is perverts sending hardcore pornography. In the USA, this is illegal! And there are good chances that kids receive the same disgusting messages with explicite texts and pictures. Sending porn to minors is even a bigger crime. One goes to prison for that.

But Directnic doesn’t act, they don’t even reply to my messages any more. As matter of fact, they simply block my email addresses, just because they don’t like receiving the evidences of their misbehaviour…

All they care about is making easy profit and have no respect for the civilised world.

Most positive reviews of DirectNIC can be found on several sites. They are added to customer reviews verbatim but with different “authors”

DirectNIC is best known as domain squatters. They hijack your site when it’s time to reregister, then claim they sent you three (it’s always 3) emails that said this was going to happen if you didn’t renew in time. Then, to get your site back, you have to pay some ambiguous fee anywhere from $250 and down to get it back. Total scum bags. No other hosting company has as many lawsuits as these bastards do. AVOID

Suspend the service without notice. Tickets ignored. Completely ignore the customer. Worst customer service and worst domain registrar I’ve ever known.

I have used directnic for over 10 years. They have an option to set your domain names up for auto-renew as long as you have supplied them with a current credit card. You need to keep your e-mail contact address current with them also. However if you do this you get a warning about renewal problems 90 days ahead of the renewal date and this includes a heads up if your credit card date is about to go out of date.

I have always found their phone based support to be useful and responsive. They even kept their servers going through Hurricane Katrina. At that time they were based in New Orleans. It is my understanding that, as of 2013, they have moved back from Cayman Islands to Louisiana.
