Paid for a year upfront and they were lousy at replying to support request.

Ive only had this for 3 days, ofcourse it could always be that they ‘just’ registered my dns, but 3rd day and im having major downtime, canaca’s main website is down. I paid a year ahead, scary, everything is easy to setup, you need to have used ftp before to understand alot. otherwise its easy. by the time i finished this review the website came back up, 2 thumbs up canada (so far)

1) First, you get their cheap advertised price was only if you sign up for a year with them. Nowhere on their site had mentioned this and I was misled into thinking I was getting a really “good deal”. I ended up paying considerably more.
2) The connection on their server was sporadic. My site would be down for hours at a time. By my estimates, they’re down at least 80% of the time. By many reviewers’ accounts, they disable your account if they deem you’re using too much of their CPU resources.
3) I tried calling their 800 number to cancel my account towards the end of my contract with them but each time I was kept on hold for 15 to 30 minutes. I then sent several emails to Canaca requesting that my account be cancelled because I no longer need their services. They did not respond. When it came time for the end of the 3-month contract, they billed my credit card for another 3 months. I had to call my credit card company to let them know that it was an unauthorized charge. The credit card company told me I have to fill out some chargeback paperwork due to arrive in 5-7 days in the mail.
Instead of succumbing to their seeming tempting deals, I should have listened to innumerable reviewers labeling Canaca as a shady establishment. Take heed and steer clear of Canaca. Don’t be enticed by their prices to take the plunge. Save yourself some grief and look somewhere else – you have been forewarned. Google some and you’ll find a wealth of negative reviews on by people who were burned by their shady practices.

Unbelievable..these guys are MORONS. They have no fuckin clue how to manage a hosting company. I cant believe these clowns are still in business.. They TOTALLY false-advertised all their plans and they have at least an hour’s downtime EVERY single day. Their reputation is fake and their customer support reps are either non-existent or are people that went to special ed schools and cannot say anymore than “yes” or “no”.
We supposedly payed for, a year in advance, “200GB” of bandwidth, which anyone knows for 3.95 you are not getting that much. All we used our site for was a FORUM!! Just a PHPBb forum with only under 100 members!! how LAME. Then they said we crashed the server with so much overload, its all BS and they desever to die. F Canaca.com.
